o nerth sh Dear Editor: I used to reside its North Vancouver and now am following this case from Italy. It was bound to happen; government action has been taken against the North Shore News and its columnist Doug Collins. Mr. Collins should have known thar the Jewish people are the most affluent and powerful religious/ethnic group in North America and that barking up their tree could result in the end of the North Shore News. Tam puzzled as to why you and others at North Shore News are surprised at the actions that have been taken against your “newspaper” and its racist columnist. Weck after week you devote an entire page to a man who knows nothing but hatred and seeks to do nothing but split the peaceful North Shore community along racial lines. Since you claim to be the “Voice of North Shore,” you have certain responsibilities to the community to whom you cater. Parking point clarified Dear Editor: Re: Article on parking near West Vancouver high school. | appreciate the support of the North Shore News in reporting the comments at ore Mews No - oa a 7 a Oug | ins 7 L . t . ve : . Mr. Collins made his views known a long time ago, there is no need to repeat his rhetoric week after week. He said that he was captured by the Germans in the Second World War, | wonder how much brain-wash- ing they did to him? [f your newspaper seeks to continue allowing Mr. Collins bis own page, then others with different views must also be given weekly space in your newspaper to write their beliefs. Much like how the O.J. Simpson case lost its purpose when the defence used the “race card,” your newspaper is using the “freedom of speech” card to divert attention from what this whole situation is really about. It’s about being a responsible newspaper that does not back a racist man whose beliefs are those of a person living at the start of this century. If we want to read the rhetoric Mr. Collins keeps writing, we will go to the local library and check out the KKK’s manifesto.
