46 - Wednesday, May 27, 1987 - North Shore News Lifestyles IF YOU'RE trying to choose a summer camp for your child, the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre may be able to help. The centre has assembled sum- mer camp information brochures. Parents are invited to visit the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre at 1060 Roosevelt Crescent, North Van- couver or to call 988-7138. The in- formation is also available at Capilano Community Services, 600 West Queens Road, North Van- couver, 988-7115. ‘ For those who may have dif- ficulty paying full camp fees, in- formation is available on help provided through the United Way Camping Bureau. Those on GAIN are reminded financial assistance is available for recognized camps. Parents of children with physical or mental disabilities can also receive subsidy. Before choosing a summer camp, the B.C. Camping Associa- tion suggests parents ask themselves the following questions: Is my child ready to leave home? Would a day care be better suited to his age? What are my child’s special needs? Can these needs best be met in a general or specialized camp? if possible, before making a final selection, parents should try to arrange a meeting with the camp director or, at least, discuss the camp’s philosophy and methods of working with children over the telephone. Ask for references from parents of children who have at- tended. Information on summer playgrounds and day camps will also be available in June. Contact the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre or call directly to the North Vancouver Recreation Commission at 988-6/66, the North Shore Neighbourhood House at 987-8138, the West Van- couver Recreation Centre at 926- 3266 or the North Shore Family Y at 926-5541. Many of this year’s celebrations are planned in Park Royal’s North and South malls and will feature dancers, singers and musicians. A colorful contribution of British Pacific Properties Ltd. and Park Royal will be very much in evidence throughout this year. An eight-foot 75th anniversary logo on an overpass above Marine Drive will serve as a reminder that this is a special year in West Vancouver. | Decorator Prints Choose troma wide selection of designs and sizes, 7 mM AY - —aete ot = Not al Mae - Se SS Sa aif SAVE 25%! color-Ordinated a on FABULOUS OUTDOOR LIGHTING Solid Antique Brass with Curved Clear Bevelled Glass Energy Saving Ceiling Fans 5 blade, 42" sweep | Reversible and light -Bink, grey, white Kit adaptable Reg. 119.99 A.
