The fashion show gets underway at noon at Vancouver’s Kettle of Fish Restaurant. Sherwood’s designs in fleece come in an array of big, comfor- table tops. Also new this year is her use of print materials. Sherwood said thanks to im- proving business volume she was able to branch into these two new directions. In the past her custom fit clothes were done in solid col- ors. Color is where Sherwood ex- ceeds. She offers a wide variety of styles and sizes in poly-cotton in- terlock in 38 colors and 100 per cent wool jerseys in 11 colors. Skerwood said customers these days have had their ‘‘colors done”’ and know what looks best for them. If u:ev’re unsure fashion agents are willing to offer advice on not only color but suitable styles for a woman’s figure type. Sherwood began EliMar Cre- ations six vears ago in North Van- couver, and continues to run it pretty much as a cottage industry. She has a large studio in her home, where she works on the designs, cutting, and planning. Her seam- stresses work out of their own homes, and the line is shown by contacting one of EliMar’s four Lower Mainland agen:s. There are also two agents on Vancouver Island. “The customer is more or less the designer,’’ said Sherwood. “If she likes purple sleeves on a green shirt we'll do it. But our agents are willing to tell them what's going on in the fashion world,”’ Because nothing is made until it is ordered Sherwood said EliMar is able to stay on top of the ever changing world of fashion. Clothes from EliMar Creation range from $15 to $120. NEWS photos Mike Wakelleld
