THE NORTH SHORE
Olympic Hotel Rowdymen
defeated defending Western
Ball Hockey league champs
Burnaby Beavers 5-1 at Ker-
risdale Arena recently.

_ The victory was revenge
for the Rowdymen who were
beaten 5-2 by the same
beavers earlier in the season.

The Rowdymen
dominated in the game,
which attracted a crowd of
approximately 300.

The Rowdymen led 2-1
after the first half on goals
by Tim Miller and Scott
Wheatley. In the second
half, the Rowdymen added
three unanswered goals.

Blair Hiddleston had two
goals for the Rowdies, while
Pat Madaisky added, a
single.

Centre Early Graham ad-
ded three assists.

The Rowdymen’s record
now stands at 15-2-1.

HUNDREDS of B.C. athletes

will converge on Burnaby’s -

BCIT starting July 7 for the
Annual B.C. School Sports
Development Camp.

The camp is organized by
B.C. School Sports and is for
student athletes, 14-15 years of
age.

The B.C. | Volleyball,

Basketball, ‘Women’s Field :

Hockey, Football, Gymnastics
and Curling Associations
assist with. the respective
camps. Lo.

A- $50,000 grant, $100 per
participant, has been provid-
ed by the Ministry of-the Pro-
vincial Secretary, Honorable
James Chabot, Minister.

The money is awarded in
the form of a scholarship to
subsidize the camp costs and
is part of the province's
Athlete Assistance Program.

Every school in B.C. with
junior secondary age students

may send participants to these °

camps where they realize
sport, leadership and social
development through carefully
coordinated activities.

This is the 13th year for the
Sports Development Camp.
Regardless of the level these
athletes go on to achieve, the
camp’s primary goal is to ex-
pose them to high level in-
struction so that they can not
only develop their abilities but
also take their experiences
home with them and share
them with their respective
communities.

The 1985 program is: Juiy
7-13, Girls’ Volleyball; Jury
14-20, Boys’ Baksetball; July
21-27, Girls’ Field Hockey;
July 28 to August 3, Boys’
Football, Co-ed Gymnastics,
Co-ed Curling,
