Spectacular! climb to be shown Tomorrow (Thursday, May 17) at 7:30 p.m. members of the Outdoor Recreation Dept. at Capilano College will be showing a slide presentation on their successful ascent of B.C.'s highest peak. ’ Mount Waddington, which towers 13,140 feet above sea level, was the object of .the climbing ex- pedition which included ten students and four faculty members from the college. In order to reach the peak, which is located 200 miles north of Vancouver, near the head of Bute Inlet, the group travelled by car to Twist Lake and then flew by helicopter to an elevation of 9,000 feet where the climb began. A successful ascent, high winds and an injury com- bined to make last August's trip a spectacular, dramatic event. Narrating the slides of the climb will be expedition member and OQOutdoor Recreation instructor, Roger Griffiths. The slide presentation will take place at Robson Square Vancouver, in the small theatre on the ‘conference floor and the admission is $2. Proceeds from admission will be used towards financing a 1979 moun- taincering expedition to Mt. Vancouver in the Yukon. For further information, phone 986-1911, Local 312. NWT election set Voters in the Northwest Territories will be going to the polls, October 1. They will be voting for a larger territorial council with 22 seats, instead of the current 15, The announcement of the election was made Thur- sday, by the commissioner, John Park. . (heat.
