to attend

national jamboree

Wescot Elementary school
student John Stewart has
been chosen by the B.C.
Automobile Association to
join 8,000 school patrollers in
Ottawa for the 20th National
School Safety Patrol Jam-
boree, May 25 and 26.

Twelve-year-old John will
join the B.C. delegation of 1S
students attending the Jam-
boree, which is sponsored by
the BCAA in conjunction
with the Canadian Auto-
mobile Association.

“The Jamboree is our
tribute to the efforts of all
100,000 Canadian — school
patrollers who protect the
lives of three million children
each day without thought of
reward,’’ said Harold N.
Crompton, BCAA president.

CAA, its member clubs and
local police departments
have sponsored the school
safety patrol movement, not
one child has been killed at a
crossing in their care.

Before leaving Ottawa, the
15 B.C. patrollers will spend
a day in Vancouver touring a
television studio, the B.C.
Building at the P.N.E., and
visiting the whale show and
Stanley Park Zoo. They will
be welcomed at City Hall,
and entertained by the
Nancouver Police motorcycle
drill team.
