Inspired by European trends with classic undertones, she creates wearable designs with a twist. She uses natural fibres with interesting tex- tures and combines them with special details such as but- tons and trim. Cleland favors the nautical look for its crisp, fresh appeal in linen. She then adds sophistication with cotton jacquard and summer color in bright rayon and cotton prints. Schoolgirl sailor collars, stand- ard: stripes; and overly ornate naval motifs are nowhere to be found on Cleland’s naval designs.
