ready for Year 2000

NORTH Vancouver
District recently con-
cluded a review of its
readiness for the year
2000.

“District staff have been
reviewing this issue for some
time now,” said corporate ser-
vices director, David) Stuart.
“We're focusing initially on
our computerized business
and service delivery systems,
as well as the systems that run
our infrastruccure, like water
pumping stanuns and traffic
lights.

“By mid 1999, we believe
all of the systems under our
control will have — been

upgraded or modified to
ensure they continue to run
smoothly on Jan. 1, 2000.”

A special = committee
including police, fire, reere-
ation, library, parks, planning,
finance and engineering ser-
vices has been developed to
determine if services or mate-
rials provided by external sup-
pliers like telephone, hydro,
and gas will be affected.

The North and West
Vancouver Emergency
Program will be holding an
exercise this spring to as
the three North Shore muni
ipalities’ ability to handle any
problems created by Year
2000.
