A few years ago I read an article in The
Economist, a much quoted magazine, of how

The new private bus line provided better
service in terms of punctuality, better connec:
tions to rail stations and ran at 10 minute
interva ¥ successtully used mini buses to
accomplish this task. A sceond private bus
company appeared on the scene, providing
even better service. One only had to flag them
down while the bus was cruising on main roads
during rush hours.

The result was a big success for the public
and the environment. Consequently, the public
bus line improved its service to stay competi-
tive and the private bus lines kept them on
their toes.

* Demonstrated experience in non-profit, community service
