RESIDENTIAL proper-
ty sales took a breather
during May, reports

the British Coiumbia
Real Estate Association
(BCREA).

A total of 6,498 residential
sales were recorded on the
MLS system in May compared
to 5,241 in 1995.

While the year over year
sales are still healthy, Perry -
noted that for the first time
since January, 19 96, the month
over month sales had decreased
by 352.

“Part of this decline might -
be attriburable to the number
of issues that applied to residen-
tal property in the weeks lead-
ing up to the provincial elec-
tion,” he said. “Selling prices
are holding ‘steady, which is a
" good indication that properties
are well priced for the current
