The reason is that dona-

tions for his one-man drive

to aid the phsycially handi-
capped of Liberia are rolling
in after a series of articles
publicizing his efforts.

now,” Shwery said Thurs-
day. ‘‘People are really
responding.”
’.Shwery is seeking dona-
tions of. crutches,
wheelchairs, canes and other
aids for the young and old in
Liberia.

He started his campaign in
1981 . when, on a_ business
trip to Liberia, he. became
aware of. the plight. of the -
handicapped. Since then he.
has made a number of return
trips. to the country, taking
with him a few wheelchairs -
or other aids at a time.

His efforts this winter are
the ‘most ambitious yet as
Shwery attempts to fill..a_
