Neighbors cooperate
to tame West Van trees

West Vancouver is at last
beginning to get its tree
problem under control,
according to Mayor Derrick
Humphreys.

The mayor was com-
menting last weck on the
June 23 council declaration
designating the month of
July as “Good Neighbor Tree
Month”.

Over the past several
months, he said, the com-
munity had made
tremendous progress in
achicving increased levels of
cooperation between
neighbors. “A number of
outstanding cases have been
publicized of neighbors
cooperating to improve once
another's views and light and
sunshine in their private
gardens.”

West Vancouver,
Humphreys noted, is located
in a zone which has a par
ticularly rapid growth of
trees. In dealing. with this
problem it had become
evident that the best solution
would. be cooperation
between neighbors.

“In declaring the month of
July as’ a. ‘Good. Neighbor
Tree Moath’”, he said,

“council is hoping to draw
the attention of the citizens
of West Vancouver to this

policy and encourage them _
