The study will be carried out over the six. months with 28 students who completed the program in February. Increasing numbers of employers call Capilano College when hiring. Of the students in the group, six had obtained jobs. by graduation; some by responding to job offers that came directly to the college and others by answering newspaper ads. The first part of the Employment Survey consists of students’ evaluation of the course content. Results show that the students are by and large confident in their skills in typing, bookkeeping, shorthand etc. They also appreciate the chance to upgrade their English and Math. Students indicate in this evaluation that they feei Positive about job hunting because of having a resume and the career planning unit. lege following their + grads Employment of students is the “bottom line” in Career/Vocational educat- ion and in times of high employment Capilano College does everything possible tog assist their graduates. In three months the Students will be asked to complete another questionnaire indicating whether or not they have found jobs. It’s likely that any who are still looking will be in touch with the B.O.T. office and the Capilano College placement centre in case any jobs which interest them have come up. The final phase of the survey will be done in August, six months after graduation. Students will report their employment status and also indicate whether the skills and courses they have taken at Capilano College transferred into the job situation. That information will be con- sidered in future course planning. In this way .Kir- chner hopes the college will continue to provide prac- tical business office training. West Vancouver's Community Day, to be held June 7, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the May Day tradition. There will be the always popular parade, fitness activities, Bavarian Garden, live music, dancing and arts and crafts.displays. This year’s golden an- niversary committee consists of chairman Mark Sager, John Peirson, Lois Brymer, Pat Boname, Roberta - Hemmings, Linda Hampson, Frank Kurucz, Graham Chambers, Mike Aird and Hilary Clark. In keeping with the golden anniversary theme, the committee would like to revive the May pole dancing and for the first time to hold an evening dance. ‘Were you there in 1930?
