Construction on the $7.5-miflion realignment has been ac a standstill while the District of North Vancouver awaits the outcome of talks between CanOxy and Imperial Oil. At issue is an Imperial OiJ-owned tract of Jand on Dollarton and Amherst Avenue currently undergoing an environmental remediation process. A gas station was located on the site until it was closed about five years ago. 5 Imperial O21 and CanOxy — a subsidiary company of Canadian Occidental Petroleum Led. — are currently in talks regarding the transfer of the site. Canadian Occidental has agreed. to provide Imperial Oil with space to build a new service station on its lands south of Dollarton in exchange tor the old site. However, that site must first be cleaned up before Canadian Occidental will permit Imperial to break ground on the new station.
