Centre (CEC).

Workshops and booklets on job
search strategies are available at
CECs that can assist. you in writ-
ing resumes and contacting poten-
tial employers.

“But an interview with the
employer can be that all-impor-
tant factor in landing a job,’’ says
Mary Margaret Lecompte, a CEC
counsellor in Ottawa who teaches
interviewing skills to job hunters.

‘Especially since employers
decide whether to hire you in the
first couple of minutes of the in-
terview.”’ ;

With more people competing
for fewer jobs, making that good
first impression is crucial.

While information booklets are
useful, she . says,  ‘‘one-to-one
practice in a workshop is the best
method. of sharpening interview
skills.’”. ; :
