The project, considered for construction in Cache Creek, was shelved following much con- troversy. Despite the lack of hazardous waste disposal capacity in the province, Finnbogason and Konasewich agree that industry is increasingly taking up the challenge to minimize the risk of detrimental environmental impact. Said Konasewich, ‘‘The liability aspect is really interesting. First of all if a plant is operating and producing a lot of pollution on site, they know that they will not be able to sell the property in the future.
