North Vancouver District Dollarton Highway Reconstruc- tion: Road construction in progress. Single-lane traffic during non-peak travel times with occasional detours along Strathcona Road. Mount Seymour Parkway Beautification Project: Excavation for median and curb and gutter installation. Single-lane traffic in effect in both directions during peak travel times. Con- struction speed limit in effect at all times. Redwood-Pinewood-McBride Crescent: Local improvement reconstruction and storm sewer installation. Open to local traffic only. Gallant Avenue: Instaiiation of underground elec- trical. services. Single-lane traffic only. North Vancouver City: No major closures planned. West Vancouver District Ambleside Revitalization Project: Work continues in the Ambleside business district on the area’s revitalization project. closures will occur throughout the area, particularly in the area one block north and south of Marine Drive between 13th and 18th streets. The district is asking for the public’s cooperation while the project is taking place, and Road | motorists are asked to obey both _ traffic control devices and person- - nel. Mathers Avenue: Mathers Avenue, between the 2000 and 2100 blocks will be closed for approximately six weeks due to watermain replacement work. Cammeray Road: Road reconstruction will begin in the 1300-block Cammeray Road. Traffic will be allowed through but motorists are reminded to obey traffic control personnel. Depaztment of Highways Upper Levels Highway at Lonsdale Avenue: East-bound tratfic at the Upper Levels Highway and Lonsdale Avenue will now detour onto new east-bound lanes. Access to Ches- terfield and St. Georges avenues is temporarily closed. Second Narrows Bridge-Skecna Tunnel: The Skeena Tunnel at the south end of the Second Narrows Bridge will be closed from April 2 to July Cycling workshops held in NV NOW THAT spring has officially started, it won’t be long until the streets are full of cyclists. The recCentre Lonsdale is offering two workshops designed to help you enjoy safe and happy cycling. Buy the Right Bike, to be held April 23, is for those who want to get into the sport, but are unsure about what kind of bike to pur- chase. Topics covered include special features of mountain and racing bikes, accessories, and how to match the right bike to your particular riding needs. The second course is called Bike Maintenance, and includes such topics as brake, derailleur, and wheel adjustment, how to fix a flat, and general preventive maintenance techniques. This is a two-session program, April 2 and Both workshops are taught by Andy lus, a highly experienced cyclist who has competed in moun- tain bike races and cycle-toured extensively through Europe and B.C.
