The North Shore information and Volunteer Centre is currently recruiting new and experienced volunteer tax preparers for 1987 North Shore placements to aid seniors and low income people in preparing their 1986 income tax forms. This assistance program is now in its fourth year. “T consider it a great privilege to have had at my disposal the exper- tise of such wonderful volunteers to complete in such a thorough manner a complicated (to me) document which [ am no longer capable of handling myself,” wrote a North Van senior to the centre. Training for volunteers on the preparation of personal income tax returns will be held on Monday, Feb. 9 in the Cedar Room, Upper Buiiding at Delbrook Community Centre from 9 a.m. to L p.m. Instruction will be provided by Revenue Canada staff. There will be sessions for both new volunteers and those with previous tax expe- rience. Call NSIVC at 985-7138 to register, A volunteer tax preparer can expect to put in a morning or afternoon per week during March and April either helping to prepare the return or checking over com- pleted forms. Volunteers will be placed at Nerth Shore Neighbour- hood House, Silver Harbour Cen- tre or the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre, or perhaps make a home visit for shut-ins if necessary.
