Dear Editor: To Doug Collins Well 1 see where your friends on the B.C. Press Council, no doubt under the inspired leadership of the ‘Vancouver Scum and _ the Daily Pee, have decided that you must research the “Holocaust”? before you dare write about it. You must also be prepared to enter into a dispute with anyone who dares to ques- tion the ‘‘official’’ figures produced. Only after this has been done are you allowed ‘to comment on freedom of speech. What a sad commentary on a '‘free” press ina ‘‘free’’ country! The- Press Council's comment that the News acted unfairly in limiting the number of letters-to-the- editor does seem a mite ridi- culous. The idea of a self-service gasoline station and how much money they seem to save you is a poor substitute for First Class service in an otherwise ordi- Nary station. Routine maintenance with | an automobile . saves ycu money,. by perhaps preven- ting average road problems normally encountered in day to day Situations, which in- Crease in magnitude if ‘not attended to. The savings, indeed which amount to only 5¢ or so per gallon, are vir- tually negligible, and with gasoline already approaching $2.75, it seems a poor mar- keting agent. Since the initiation of these stations, I’l] bet the average Canadian automobile is far less road worthy than before. But the full service gas stations still temaining in the Lower Mainl, and are certainly not the total answer to the pro- blem; full service stations in Richmond are a far cry from total hazard free driving, some are manned by adoles- cents whose personal interest in your motoring safety can be considered nil at times. It is not so much that self-service stations are a strike against your motoring ease, but the fact that full service indeed falls some- Cc. feat ac.Heen On, the North Shore and I think the timing was appropriate. By coincidence a recent News contains a wordy diatribe by a Dr. Michael Ziotnik, again chastising you and the News for things you did not say. His interpreta- tion of ‘freedom of speech” makes a mockery of the words. Might I suggest that you take Dr. Zlotnik’s letter to the B.C. Press Council for their comments on_ his ‘facts’, ‘credibility’, and “research.’’ They might also like to comment on_ his blanket charge against the Dear Editor: 1 wish to express my thanks to the staff and doc- -tors of Lions Gate Hospital, especially to the Intensive what below the ideal; most times all you end up with is the fact that someone else has pumped your tank.
