Alwyn Morris.

Mormis, a 1982 graduate of
the college’s outdoor recre-
auion program, teamed with
Burnaby’s Hugh Fisher in
K2 kayaking competition at
the Olympics and came away
with gold and bronze.

**We were delighted,’’ said
White. ‘‘He’s done very well
internauionally.”’

hooked up with Fisher and
the two began their rise
toward the Olympic medals
won last weekend.

The pair expressed disap-
pointment in their bronze
medal finish in the K2 500
metre event but made up for
i with their victory amthe
1,000 metre finals.

White said he was par-
ticularly proud of Morris for
his speech from the podium
after the gold medal victory

“rT think he will have a
tremendous impact, par-
ticularly on native youth,”’
White said

they be better athletes but
they will also be prepared for
the jump contests in March
