New paint can repel sun’s heat

According to Mark Gross,
sales and marketing director
for PARA Paints, the paint
acts like a barrier for heat.
“In winter it prevents the
heat from escaping, in the
summer it prevents heat
from coming in.”

PARA claims the paints
can prevent roughly 40% of
radiant energy from entering
a home, translating into up
to 15 or 20% savings per
year.

As an added bonus, fur-
naces in homes painted with
the new interior and exterior
paints are supposed to emit
less carbon dioxide into the
environment.

The company suggests
that if you don’t want to
paint your whole house or
cottage, start with a problem
room that tends to be too
warm in the summer.

Gross explained: “The
difference will be felt imme-
diately.”

said Virani.

use them as accents so they don’t
