is currently applying for Pesticide Use Permit 105-562A- 95/97 to apply Roundup (plyphosate), Garlun
4 (triclopys) and E-Z-Ject (glyphosate) to 1111.2 ha between Summer 1995 to 31 December 1997.
Herbicides will be applied by target specific treatment methods such as: cut surface, capsule injection,
selective backpack foliar, basal bark, and thin-line applications. Herbicides are applied to individual tall-
growing deciduous trees like red alder, maple and cottonwood. Shrubs are left undisturbed. if required,
resprout of unsuccessfully controfled trees will be treated by selective backpack foliar application using
a backpack garden-type sprayer. Applications have minimal impact on surrounding low-growing vege-
tation. Control of these trees ensures reliability of electrical service and public and worker safety by
maintaining clearance between high- voltage lines and trees, Resulting vegetation provides i
forage and shelter for many wildlife species.

This permit refers to weatment areas on B.C. Hydro transmission lines in the Greater Vancouver
Regivnal District: lines SLA1, SLAS, SL52, 5L82, 5L8), 2113, 2149, 2176, 2.78, SL44, 5L51, 2L11,
2L17, 2L75, & 2L77 - to tall-growing deciduous target trees. Site-specific Integrated Vegetation
Management plans will be prepared for each site prior to the commencement of work to determine if
herbicide applications are appropriate.

A copy of the Permit Application and maps may be viewed at B.C. Hydro Customer Services offices
in Surrey, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Surrey, and Burnaby, and at Lower Mainland Transmission,
