But sometimes old Dad prefers
something with a little less hair gel,
something a little closer to the
curbside of life, something a little
more like Andreas.

There is not much Californian
about Andreas Arsoniadis’ restau-
rant, but there is much Greek and
much southern Mediterranean
about it.

Andreas is loose ind lively.

Its personality, like that of its
owner, is sunny and good-hearted.

And its meru is proudly, though
by no means exclusively, sturdy

jovial restaurant owner, and we
spent a good 15 minutes strolling
from one side of beef to another
discussing the merits of precise ag-
ing and deft slicing. Such is life in
the fast lane of restaurant review-
ing.

And while the Table Hopping
crew has been kept busy monitor-
ing the progress of newer, flashier
and, in some cases, less enduring
restaurants, Andreas has con-
tinued rolling along its blue-collar
road loaded with satisfied regulais
and picking up stragglers and
other diners who occasionally take
a detour down the low-ball dining
trail.

Andreas’ menu carries few sur-
prises. It's a hodgepodge of Greek,
Italian and North American dishes
that have found their way into
most family restaurants (souvlaki,
pasta, pizza and steak-seafood
combinations), but the restaurant's
kitchen cuts few corners, and Ar-
soniadis ensures that a diner’s
dollar at his restaurant gets max-
