It is an exercise in futility at the fevel you, and many en- vironmentalists operate. Much of what you propose is sheer lunacy. A good example is your suzeestion to thaw frozen foods in the cefrizerator in the faint hope that vou might cut down some of its operation. You have to be kidding! Why don't you just unscrew the light bulb? You are capable of getting frozen foods from the freezer without benefit of light, why can't vou do the same in the refrigerator? The lighted bulb uses electricity and adds more heat, which requires longer operation once the door is closed. Would T dike vou for a neighbor? No doubt he will enjoy it, providing he keeps off his favorite seawall. But we should do something more appropriate for the man who has done so much for West Vancouver for many years as alderman and latterly as mayor — something that will keep his name in memory for a genera- tion or more. North Shore News reporter Michael Becker interviewed me on a related but quite distinct subject, specifically the outcome of a parents’ meeting at Argyle Sec- ondary School. The machete inci- dent had not even occurred when he and I spoke. My comments were in response to his questions regarding the need for more youth workers, not the violent actions of machete- wielding youth.
