highway in 1988.

The Squamish highway is cur-
rently patrolled by four police of-
ficers. They are based in
Squamish, but cover an area that
ranges roughly from Horseshoe
Bay to Darcy.

Using calculations based on the
estimated number of police hours
absorbed by court time, paper
work, erratic driver complaints,
attending accidents and fatalities,
the submission concludes that ac-
tual available patrol time remain-
ing for the highway is woefully in-

the submission, is 8,320 hours. The
current patrol time available is
5,000 hours.

A minimum of four officers
