Fishing charges stayed FIVE fisheries violations laid against three Chilliwack residents were stayed Tuesday in North Vancouver provincial court. Willard Joseph Michell, 51, and Benny James, 54, were original- ly charged jointly with one. count cach of unlawfully catching, unlawful possession and attempted sale of sockeye and chinook salmon allegedly taken from the Fraser River without a valid commercial fishing licence. The charges were laid in connection with a July 19 fish setzure. James was also charged with attempting to sell unlawfully caught fish in connection with another seizure of {ith six days later. In addition, Michell and James were charged Jointly with Jessica James, 43, with one count of possession of fish caught during a period closed to commercial fishing. Fraud charges dropped FRAUD CHARGES against a 38-year-old Vancouver man were dropped Tuesday in North Vancouver provincial court.
