Don’t be taken in by its

‘shallow claims to ascendancy

over the beloved Nanaimo
Bars, to which someone wan-
ting in taste and refinement
has compared it. Beside that
richly delicious sweet it pales
to its true dimensions --- ig-
noble, barbarous and vile.
It’s called ‘‘Sex In A Pan’,

There are actually four

layers to this ill-conceived

confection, touted to give up

to 18 servings. If you ‘insist
on flouting my advice, do use
a spring-form pan. Mine hav-
ing mysteriously disap-
peared, [ used a tube pan,
and when I tried to lift the
finished product up and out
from the walls, well -—- have
you ever been in the company
of a cow trying to pull her
feet out of hock-high mud

Layer One:
Heat the
(160C).
Blend together

I cup of all-purpose

oven to 325F

flour (250mL)
cup of sugar (60mL)
Blend in, with fingers or

pastry blender
cup margarine (125mL)
Press the result into your
10-ineh (25cm) pan and bake
for 25 minutes, then cool it.
Layer Two:
Beat together until fluffy
1 500g. pkg. of cream
cheese
cup icing sugar (125mL)
Blend in | two-cup-tub
of Cool Whip (500mL)
Spread this on the cooled
bottom layer
Layer Three:
Measure into a bow]
3-cups of milk (750mL)
1 6-portion pkg. of instant
chocolate pudding
1 6-portion pkg. of
instant vanilla pudding
Beat together for two
minutes, then spoon the
results on top of the cheese
layer.

- (My naivete about packaged
-. puddings contributed to my

particular disaster --- mine
were the sort that need cook-
ing. | thought that meant
instant.)
Top Layer:
Beat to stiff

_ 1 2-cup container of whip-

ping cream (S00mL)
Crush to crumbs
12 chocolate wafers

Spread the cream on top of
the pudding layer, then
