More than 300 West Van-
couver households still on
septic tanks will be forced to
hook up to the sewer system
under a hew plumbing bylaw
introduced at last week's
council meeting.

The plumbing bylaw will
require owners of all proper-
ties to connect to a muni-
cipal sewer within 180 days
of being advised in writing
that the sewer is in place and
available to use.

There is a provision, for
the connections to be made
by the municipality on
default of the owner, at the
owner's expense.

Alderman John Hum-
phries called the bylaw an
“important” one, saying it
would solve the problem of
people refusing to hook up
to the sewer system.
