He succeeds Edward Col- linson of Kelowna. Elected as vice-chairman was George M.C. Whyte of North Van- couver. They were elected to their positions at the July 21 mecting of the council in Vancouver. The Keal Estate Council is comprised of agents and salespeople elected to repre- sent all areas of the pro- vince. The council was es- tablished in 1958 under the Real Estate Act of British Columbia. Its principal functions are to supervise the conduct of real estate licensees, regulate the standards for intitial licensing of reai estate salespeople and agents and ensure that the interests of the public are protected against the wrongful actions of any licensee. Charman has served on the Real Estate Council for the past five years and was vice-chairman Jast year. Ac- tive in the reel estate field for 30 years, he is a past president of the Victoria Real Estate Board, the Brit- ish Columbia Real Estate Association and the Cana- dian Real Estate Associa- tion.
