North Vancouver City Counci:

AMIDST THE colorful dignity of
a North Vancouver RCMP color
guard, the newly elected members
of North Vancouver City Council
were sworn into office Monday.

The new council, which includes
four new :?dermen, two incum-
bents and claimed Mayor Jack
Loucks, p::. Jged allegiance to the
Queen anu swore to ‘faithfully
perform their duties and not allow
personal interests to interfere’
with council business.

Jo Dean, John Braithwaite and
former alderman Rod Clark, and
congratulated newcomers Barbara
Sharp, Frank Morris and Bill Bell
on their election victories.

He said issues facing the new
council include developing a North
Shore economic strategy in coop-

commerce; fighting for a more
equitable funding formula for the
North Shore Board of Health; and
installing an enhanced 911
emergency telephone system.

Loucks added he hoped council
would also work with North and
West Vancouver municipalities to
develop a disaster plan.
