1 round sourdough Shepherd's
loaf

1 thin French bread stick

1 package Knorr’s dry vegetable
soup mix

1 package chopped frozen spinach,
thawed and squeezed dry

1 8-oz tin water chestnuts, chopped

3-4 green onions, finely chopped

1 cup sour cream

1 cup real mayonnaise

salt and pepper.

Cut the top off the Shepherd’s
loaf and scoop out the inside, leav-
ing about a %”’ shell. Save the
discards for bread crumbs. Slice
the French stick in %’"’ slices and
arrange around the shell on a large
platter.

Combine the remaining ingre-
dients and fill the shell.
Refrigerate, well covered, for sev-
eral hours to allow the flavors to
develop. If you are making this the
day before, do not fill the shell un-
tila few hours before serving.

Provide a knife for spreading.

Beef and Cheese Buns
2 dozen smali dinner rolls (You
may have to preorder these — they
should be about 2” in diameter.)
Filling:
1 tin corned beef, excess fat
removed
¥% cup ketchup
2 cups grated sharp cheddar,
divided
Y cup finely chopped green
stuffed olives
1 bunch green onions, finely
chopped
Y% cup finely chopped green
pepper
3 jolts Worcestershire sauce

Combine filling ingredients, us-
ing 1 cup of the grated cheddar.
Split rolls and spread filling on
each half — a heaping teaspoonful
on each is about right. Top cach
with a pinch of the reserved
cheese. Place on two cookie sheets
and cover with foil. Bake in a
pre-heated oven, 350°F, about 15
minutes or until heated through
and cheese melts.
