tu cee mcrae et Wp AAOQen nee pe emer Mailbox No conflict on college | financing Dear Editor: Please allow me to assure your readers that there is no conflict between my com- ments on the budget outlook for Capilano College in 1985-86 and the initiatives shown by many pcople on campus through the College Awareness Campaign (‘Gallagher accepts new col- lege budget’’ - North Shore News - March 20, 1985). The budget information | have received is consistent with. earlier indications we had been given; that is why it was not surprising. As we had been told, our provincial grant is down significantly from 1984-85 ever. though we are expected to serve the same number of students. The College Awareness Campaign ‘is intended -to make the communities we serve. more aware. of the short and long term benefits of the college to these com- munities. Many people on and off campus -faculty, students, citizens - place high value on Capialno College and do not wish to see any decline in the quantity or quality of the education we provide. We all want to make sure that the College can play an important role in the lives of thousands of North Shore people. These are very difficult times - for the College and many others. While I am op- timistic that we can be a vital institution for you and this communtiy - in fact, we must be, we cannot dco it alone. The whole college in- vites your support.
