Mailbox He didn’t say ‘emotional’ Dear Editor: In the North Shore News for 8th March 1985 1 am quoted as advising the North Vancouver City council to “shout and scream and get emotional’’ (about the noise along our waterfront). I did not say **... get emotional.” I said ‘‘... get high-profile."’ Your reporter evidently misheard me. I pointed out to council that the offending companies are national con- cerns, and, as your reporter correctly states, suggested Typical West Dear Editor: I would very much like to respond to Joan Powell's letter (Mailbox - February 24) implying North Van- couver is populated by West Vancouver rejects. She, and her incredibly typical West Van attitude, is one reason why at times it is embarrassing to say I was . born and raised in West Van. Her complaints, however true, are unfortu- nately a fact of life. Some people are perhaps less con- siderate than others — but that’s a whole lot better than being rude. Ms. Powell would be ad- vised to apply to West Van Council on the possibility of building a brick wall around West Van to kee, the com- mon folk out. Failing that she coufd send an applica- tion to Utopia for residence. However she copes with all the trauma she faces from day to day she shouldn’t worry about dogs ‘‘doing their toilet?’ in her. garden. She is dumping on .West Vancouver herself. quite enough that council make the matter a national issue (rather than just a local: one). 1 was not suggesting that council do this by getting emotional, but by informing the na- tional media of our pro- blems with these companies. What I said was, therefore, somewhat different from what your reporter states. | would be grateful if you would publish this correc- tion.
