The rough one mule cross-country circuit in Victona’s Beacon Hill Park otters a Dack-stretch = hill climb which is usually muddy and treacherous for runners. Dry conditions this year allowed for better times and exciting competition in all age categories for the tradi- tional x-c season closer. Nor-Westers master athletes established a narrow lead in the ninth lap, but fell behind the host club team after the thirteenth pass through the chute. A series of laps in the low sixes by Rusty Morgan and Keith Lyon brought the Nor-Westers back into the race, with Lyon picking up the first place trophy for a 6:06 final cir- cult, and a narrow 18 second victory over Flying Y.
