The final score was 13-12. In the second round they gave up 17 points in the first half, but came on _ like gangbusters in the 2nd half and defeated the N.C.R. 10’s 23-17. In the Quarter finals they came up against the number two ranked team in the pro- vince, the Pharmasave Tro- jans from Abbotsford. The Trojans have ex-B.C. Lion Quarterback Mike Nutt playing for them. The boys from the Cove gave it a great effort but lost the game 32-12.' Laurie Crane of Deep Cove was named most valuable player of the game. Pharmasave went an to win their semi-final game and will play the Budman from Vancouver for the prosigce championship. The game will be played July 1 at Bby Lake Sportsplex at 1 p.m. West Van wins gold THE_ WEST Vancouver Under 14 Boys team came out on top winning the gold medal at the B.C. Junior Field Hockey Championships held at Hugo Ray Park on Jne 16 and 17. Playing a five game round robin, they tied their first game against Richmond with two goals apiece, West Van scorers being David Fearn- combe and Roddy Haigh. West Van won the second game 5-2 against Tsawassen Falcons, scorers being Blair Scobbie, David Fearncombe, Raj Gandesha and two goals by Roddy Haigh. Vancouver Island were next to fall in the afternoon to the Under 14’s who won 3-1, again Roddy Haigh with two goals and lan Bird with a single. West Van next downed Vancouver Hawks with a 2-0 shut out, with goals by lan Bird and David Fearncombe. The final game against St. George’s team was a hard- fought match, with the West Vancouver again coming out on top with a 2-1 score, the goals shared by Blair Scobbie and the winner by Roddy Haigh, on a penalty stroke. Great goaltending by Geoff Bell, and solid defence from lan Johnston, Andy Laing, Faiz Ansari and lan Dowding helped the Under 14’s win the trophy for West Vancouver Juniors. Five players from the win- hing team were chosen to represent British Columbia in the Western Provincial Championships in Calgary this past weekend. They were goalkeeper Geoff Bell, halfbacks lan Bird and Raj Gandesha, and forwards Roddy Haigh and David Fearncombe. All star midgets compete DURING the first week of July (1-8) the 2nd annual ‘Mac’s Summer Hockey Super Series’ will be held at the Sungod Arena, North Delta. This is a high calibre tournament’ with = all-star teams selected from large cities and entire provinces. Three divisions — Major Bantam, Minor Midget and Major Midget will be facing strong competition against teams from Toronto, Saskat- chewan, Alberta, Team B.C. and Vancouver. The Van- couver teams have top players from the entire Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. In the Minor Midget division three North Shore boys have made the team.
