B7 - Sunday, October 9, 1983 - North Shore News GEES entertain crt NV Arts Council prepares for Expo By ELLA PARKINSON CHRIS WOOTEN, Producer of Performing Arts for Expo ‘86, speaking at the 13th An- nual Meeting of the North Vancouver Community Arts Council September 20 told a very interested audience about the background of, and planned programs for, Expo ‘86, which is expected to entertain over 15 million visitors. He said it is a Special Category Exposition of which there is only one every ten years, and called it a Festival of Festivals, an In- ternational Cultural Festival, which will feature from May to “October 1986, world famous performing musical, theatrical and dance groups, plus visual arts and the R.C.M.P. Musical ride. The events will be held in the major theatres in Van- couver, in a covered outdoor theatre at B.C. Place which is being designed by Arthur Erikson, and at Canada Place, now being built adja- cent to the Seabus. The unique transportation system being designed will have a direct line from Canada Place, the Seabus Terminal and B.C. Place, which will facilitate North Shore access to the Fair. It was pointed out to Wootten by North Vancouver Com- munity Arts Council members and Alderman Gary Payne that it also opened up the North Shore to visitors and that events are being planned in this area to attract them. It was also suggested that accommodation will be Golden Gate to the Vatican THE VATICAN collection is not coming to Vancouver.
