Fire Department responded
promptly to the rescue call
received Saturday,
dispatching a fire truck and
its crew to the emergency
scene.

When the firefighters got
to the address at 3789 St.

Mary's, they found the
victim sifting in his 1979
Mustang, trapped there

through baving got a finger
stuck in a hole in the stcering
wheel. *

The West Vancouver man
was quickly freed as the
firefighters cut out a piece of

metal from the steering
wheel, leaving his little
finger feeling sore but

unattached to anything

except his left hand.

An inquiry into the cause
of the train collision and
methanol fire of December
22 in the rail yards at
Vancouver Wharves below
Lions Gate Bridge is un-
derway by the provincial
government as a result of
demands from West Van-
couver municipality.

closed Lions Gate Bridge for
an hour when 17,600 gallons
of methanol burned after
leaking from a _ railcar
damaged in the collision, is
expected within three
weeks.

This announcement was
made by provincial transport
minister Alex Fraser,
following demands by West
Vancouver for a_ public
inquiry to be held.

Mississauga catastrophe.

The resolution sent to
Fraser asked him to launch
an inquiry which would
ascertain the cause of the

who was seriously injured
after falling against a moving
car December 23 was this
week still in Lions Gate
Hospital, where he was said
to be slightly improved.

Darren Melvin Fisher,
aged 23, was injured at 1125
Deep Cove Road when he
fell against the side of a car
driven by Carol Andrews of
2736 Panorama Drive, North
Vancouver. .

A hospital spokesman said
this week that the pedestrian
was in fair condition
