water is unsafe to drink in
Mexico. But, what about the
water in the hotel pools? As
you know, most swimmers
gulp down their fair share
when swimming and I want
to know that this is safe.
Otherwise, we'd better
forget the pool.

ANSWER: That crystal-blue
color in any pool is only
maintained by generous
additions of chlorine and
acid. Particularly in tropical
areas, fungus’ grows
abundantly and any hotel
that is maintaining a pool has
to keep up regular main-
tenance or the whole thing
will turn into a mass of green
scum within days. If given a
choice, I'd drink a cupful of
pool water instead of turning
ona tap!

QUESTION: We've followed
your cojgamn for a long time.
You seem to have so much
fun when you travel! Could
you please tell us what Is

your favorite vacation spot
in the late fall?

ANSWER: Thave'w lot-of fun"
because it sure beats the
alternative! I'd like to quote
a friend, Kick Kammeyer,
who is head of the
Netherlands Tourist Board
in Ottawa. “Barbara, it's not
so much where you go as it is
the people you mect.
Travelling is people.” I get
such a hell of a charge out of
people - from the gal who
tallies up my grocery bill to

daughter-in-law will pet the
chance to cook lots of meals
