Those lucky enough to score dckets were
-treated to a superb showing by the Dandy
Warhols on Monday Night. Opeaing act Lily
Frost almost stole the show with her magnet-

_ ic stage presence absolutely iuminating

Richard's on Richards. The evening, howev-
er, belonged to the Dandys, who despite
remaining only just north of comatose for the
whole show, played some of the freshest
music to hit Vancouver in a long while.

The Dandy Warhols have managed to do
what few bands can — outlive their own’
hype. While four ycars ago, they were touted
as the musical sliced bread, praise has since
died down, leaving the P ‘ortland band in the
precarious position of “has beens” while still
in their collective twenties. The
Dandy’s however, are strong
enough to ourmuscle the promo-
tional machine, and as Monday
night proved, they are now pro-
ducing the best sounds of their
career.

A minor quibble with the
ticket sales for the show. Having

-10 tickets left is not enough for

the staff and media to boast that

_ there are “still tickets left”. A

line-up of at lease 160 expectant
fans were turned away at the
door, leaving this reviewer to
again lament the demise. of the

mid-size venue. Whither The Town Pump,
