ELLE Fabrics has long
been a cherished
resource for local
designers in search of
fine silk and satin, rib-
bon and lace for their
custom bridal clients.

With the opening this
week of a new bridal show-
case on the Seymour Street
store’s mezzanine, Elle now
offers even more options for
brides-to-be.

The boutique’s new
owner, North Vancouver resi-
denr and clothing designer
Manuel Mendoza, wants
Prospective brides to use the
new in-store boutique as 2
resource for all their wedding
wardrobe needs. Mendoza
purchased the fabric store
from Mayor Philip Owen last
February.

“I want it to be a place
where brides will feel comfort-
able,” says the designer. A
place where they can flip
through bridal magazines for
ideas and seek advice on fabrics
and accessories froma the store’s
knowledgeable staff.

A highlight. of the store’s
features isa collection of made-
to-measure wedding gowns.
Each style is an original desi
from Mendoza’s own sketch-
book and is available on order.
The designer gowns start at
around $1,000, about half the
starting price of a Manuel
Mendoza couture gown.
