Grain sprayed with rodent repellent

A Winnipeg company was fined
$25,090 this month for spraying a
load of cancla grain with rodent
repellent on the North Vancouver
waterfront.

containing 83.6% malathion.”

The grain was spraved last Apri. Federal
Crown lavever Jay Straith said the spraved grain
was shipped to Ching and used tor tood,

“Bur the point is, it is nora permitted use.”

International employees phoned the Canadian
Food Inspection Ageney to find out if if was
alright to use the spray. Agenes staff went te

Aospokesman for che Canadian Food
inspection Agency declined to name the grain
terminal where die Garden was used when con-
tacted by the News.

North Vancouver provincial court fudge
Jerome Paradis fined the company on March
15. The charge was laid under the Pest Control
Product Act.
