Association had reason to smile last week as they celebrated the one-year anniversary of their highly successful non-profit organization. This time last year a number of parents got together and rented elementary school gym space to start the league for young players from Grade 4 to Grade 10. Over 200 kids played last year, and this fall the league has 374 registered play- ers. Two similar jeagues started last year in other areas of the Lower Mainiand, and this year that number has grown six-fold. Mara said. “It will also allow us to enhance our programs for North Shore youth and adults: Members of the Bulldogs were: Max Melcan, Ress Hutchinson, Mitch Bartly, Derck Berg, Dallas Bishop, Gilbert Brule, Michael Heck, Nathan Jones, Steve Mara, Matt Robinson and Tom Van Nes. In addition to winning the Atom (12 and under) national title, the Bulldogs won the CHI Lower Mainland regional qualitier and the Elite/Rep Lower Mainland championships. The Bulldogs weren't the only North Shore league team to win some hardware this past summer. The PeeWee (14 and under) won both the Lower Mainland and Kamloops regional quatitiers. The Tvke (eight and under) team took the bronze medal at the CHE National Canadian tournament and were a finalist at the CHE Lower Mainland revional qualifier, Both the Novice (10 and under) and Midget (18 and under) teams won their respective divisions at the NHE Breakout tournament. And the Bantan (16 and under} team won the Elite/Rep Lower Mainland title.
