are now probably one million:

cial immigration figures are untruc.
Example: in 1987 the government
claimed the intake was 120,000. {n
fact, according to the Australian
Bureau of Statistics, net immigra-
tion was about 170, 000. The differ-
ence was made up by “visitors,”
“students” and “tourists” floating in
