1969-14 U.S. crime scene to go to estate BELLEVUE, WASHING- TON, detectives have named two North Shore residents as the only suspects in the mur- der of three members of a for- mer North Vancouver family, By lan Noble News Reporter The fact that the two are in Canada may be the only circum- stance preventing them from being arrested for investigation for homi- cide, said Bellevue police. Bellevue police spokesman Li Jack MeDonald said the two 5 peets, 18 and 19 at the time of the murder in July 1994, have been named due to a dispute over the crime scene — the home of the blud- geoned victims, two parents and the sibling of one of the suspects, Police have not finished gathering evidence from the scene, and do not want the home fo return to the estate, he said. adding that one of the sts- pects is the only heir to the estate. “You don’t give evidence buck to a suspect, and that is what we have tried to avoid.” said McDonald. The Bellevue police have been given until the end of January to gather evidence from the home, when the house in the quiet suburb of ~- Seattle must be tured over to the estate, Until now. police have avoided naming the two as suspects because the investigation is continuing. McDonald said. Still, if the suspects were in the Bellevue police force's jurisdiction. police have enough probable cause to arrest them for investigation for homicide, he said. However, the evidence gathered so far may not be cnough to proceed with prosecution, he said. McDonald said that the two sus- pects have been asked for hair and blood samples to allow investigators to compare them with samples taken from the scene, but the suspects have refused to cooperate with police. The suspects were in the home before the crime occurred and so their hair will obviously be there. he said. New sumples could help police determine if someone other than the two Suspecls and three victims was in the house. he added.
