By PATRICK RAYNARD Contributing Writer Wagner Engineering, located on Gostick Place at the foot of Bewicke Avenue, manufactured hydraulic steering systems and auto pilots for both private and commercial maritime use for 52 years before it was put into receivership by the Canadian Im- perial Bank of Commerce last Ju- ly. Former employees have bought the two divisions of the company, along with rights io the Wagner name and worldwide distribution network, but have relocated to Vancouver and Richmond. Carol Wagner, sales manager of the now-defunct Wagner Engineer- ing, said recently that the com- pany’s transfer would be complete in November, but that the former owners — her husband and her brother-in-law — needed time to ‘get things into perspective’’ be- fore deciding what to do next. Wagner Engineering attracted the attention of the business com- munity last August when 12 employees’ bid to purchase the auto pilot division for more than $1 million was rejected by receivers Thorne Ernst & Whinney of Van- couver.
