A7 - Sunday, August 22, 1982 - North Shore News Dear Editor: In the August | edition of the News, a letter was printed that 1 feel mis- represented the situation re- garding the proposed changes to Ridgewood Drive. . Comments made regar- ding finishing up with exactly the same road, no consideration. of the “majority” and giving in to nonviable objections are exaggerations, if not directly contrary to fact and insulting to those who worked diligently on the affair. More specifically, con- cern cover movement of shrubs was hardly the sole . objection to the 38’ road. Some major concerns were the possible increase in traffic, possible drops in property values, use of limited parking by non- residents for “park and ride” ‘ine example of cooperation purposes and the use of scarce money on extensions that many people agreed would be excessive. Several meetings between residents and Council were held where expression and consideration of many points of view occurred. This resulted in acceptance of a proposal that is, in fact, a LGH suit will save money Dear Editor: There have been a number of letters printed of late bemoaning the “small mindedness” of those hospital members who think abortion, as currently performed at L.G.H., is flagrantly illegal. The complaints centre on cost at this time of tight money. Perhaps a few salient points might be brought out here: (1) The hospital currently spends over $70,000 for its election circus. (2) This annual ex- travaganza takes place because the law governing abortion has never been clarified (resulting in polarization of the com- munity with contending groups attempting to in- fluence the character of their local hospital board). (3) The current legal action seeks to clarify the law and will eliminate the need for expensive meetings of the type we've seen over Fruit signs are a mess Dear Editor: Now that the fruit seller on Riverside Drive has graduated from an 8 ft. table to a brand new store, do you think he could now remove the junky looking signs that festoon the highway? They look a mess. Perhaps this is a project the Hazard Alert Committee could get their teeth into. B.
