Jason Bryden grew up in West Vancouver, so T guess f
was expecting more local colour in Nervous, rather than a
parade of characters that include a British rock star, an
American real estate agent, a porn star and the man in the
moon. Then again, in West Van...

Unfortunately, there is no real j journcy here and Bryden
might do better to abandon this so-called play and harness
his comic observations to a more hard-hicting stand-up rou-
tine where the laughs would come more easily.

Almost True Sex Tales

The annual Fringe ripoff. Promise nudity and jello and
fal to deliver.

All the actors are so laid-back natural there is nothing at
stake for any of them other than Michelle Lefler who shines
briefly in a badly written script.

Onc of the reasons that the Fringe eaists is to give
wannabe actors a chance to strut their stuff.

These young actors are from ox in the Capilano College
Theatre Certificate program and the work is self-created.

There’s no original point of view on display but if vou
hate mimes, this is the show for you. (It’s also in the best
venue for beer.)

shows already booked include
Bed Among the Lentils,
Schumann, Brabus, Schumann
and Drinking with Persephone.
This last show was wait-list-
ed for the Fringe, found its
own venuc in “Lies!’s Garage”
and became one of the hits of
the festival.
Fringe holdovers will run
Sept. 24-27 and Sepr. 30 to
Oct.
