Pol SEVEN men were charged last week in connection with allegedly selling 30,000 illegal cable TV decoders in the Greater Vancouver area. _ Cpl Gary Stuart, of the Vancouver RCMP Commercial Crime section, said the decoders ¥ ere sold on the North Shore, bur the exact number was nor avail able. During the course of the 21-month investigation, police seized $250,000 casn in West Vancouver. Stuart said the investiga- don, called Project Evesee, focused on the setiers of the decoders rather than those who purchased. Said the cerporal, “The use of these decoders is He- gal. They are charged with conspiracy to commit theft and distribute illegal cable television decoders. NV thief strikes with pepper spray A 7-Eleven clerk was pepper sprayed by a robber wearing a ski mask on Thursday in Upper Lonsdale. North Vancouver RCMP Const. Tom Seaman said the robber entered the store located at 29th Street and Lonsdale Avenue at 3 a.m. The robber pepper sprayed the male clerk and then ordered him to the ground. The thief took cigarettes and cash. Police say the clerk was able to “make a run for it” while the robber’s back was turned, . The clerk called police from a nearby gas station.
