option to illuminate your home’s sidewalks, dri-
veways and patias.

The following tps on using outdoor gas
lighting are offered by the American Gas
Association in response to some of the most fre-
quently asked questions from consumers inter-
ested in installing gas lights.

Q: How powerful are gas lights?

A: Gas lights emit a strong light — equiva-
tent to that of a 100-watt elecnic light bulb. Yet,
their illumination is soft and pleasant, noted for
its lack of glare and shadows as well as its nos-
talgic mood.

Q: How reliable are they? .

A: Most gas lights come with a full five-year
warranty. They are weatherproof and sturdily
constructed to last for the lifetime of your home.
In the event of a power failure, gas light keeps
shining.

Q: Are gas lights difficult to maintain?

A: Gas lights require litde maintenance. The
high-illumination, threaded “mantle” lasts for
years without needing replacement.

Q: What about bugs?

A: Gas fights emit a warm amber glow that
do not attract insects.

Q: What questions should I ask an appliance
