Why “Le Texas”?
Probably because. Guy
Chevalier wanted to be a

cowboy when he grew up
instead of a vigneron. The
wine is big, as syrah/shiraz
ought to be, inky, with an
almost syrupy: blackberry
dominated fruit.
' Seemed a bit short on the
finish, but might just need to
snooze for another year or
two.

Producers in these lesser-

known areas used to content
themselves with making bar-
rels of high-octane working-
man’s wallop.

But they've been taking
their cue from Australia and
California lately. and produc-
ing better made wines for the
low end of the international
market.

A welcome trend.
